Job Description
Purpose
To provide technical knowledge of the IT infrastructure and DBMS (database management
system) required for successful operation of the Microsoft Dynamics® application.
To provide expertise on Microsoft Dynamics tools used for data migration and integration
as well as knowledge of related Microsoft technologies.
Description
The Technology Consultant is tasked with solving issues that relate to implementing
Microsoft Dynamics and related software in the customer's current IT environment.
This requires knowledge of both the Microsoft Dynamics product and the Microsoft
products and technologies that are used in conjunction.
The Technology Consultant will assist the customer's staff in planning and deploying
necessary installations or upgrades to meet Microsoft Dynamics installation requirements.
The Technology Consultant has the knowledge necessary to evaluate the customer's
current infrastructure and to give realistic recommendations for hardware sizing
and software upgrades. Performance is an important factor that the Technology Consultant
will take into consideration.
They are also responsible for developing and executing data migrations and developing
integrations to legacy systems using Microsoft Dynamics tools. The Technology Consultant
may also require knowledge of tools such as Microsoft® BizTalk® Server.
The installation of Microsoft Dynamics software will often involve interacting with
the customer's End Users. This requires good communication skills in order to speak
a language that is understood by the End User.
During the Deployment Phase and after go-live the Technology Consultant supports
testing and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operation of the new business system.

- Network and operating systems
- Server technologies - Microsoft® SQL Server™ database, Reporting
Services and Analysis Services, 3-tier architecture, web servers, etc.
- Internet technologies - Microsoft® Internet Information Server
(IIS), BizTalk® Server, firewalls, etc.
- Web Services and Microsoft® SharePoint® Portal Server
- Microsoft® .NET technology, Microsoft Dynamics specific and Microsoft®
Visual Studio® development system environments
- Integration of Microsoft Dynamics to other applications
